My dog was violently shaking his head for about a half hour this morning? I checked his ears, and they seem fine. He eventually stopped shaking his head constantly, but he was still doing it periodically as we went for a walk? Any idea of the cause?

Your dog's behavior suggests that he was either registering his strenuous objections to your new cologne or experiencing some discomfort in one or both ears. If he persists, take him to his vet who can examine the parts of your dog's ears that you cannot. If he stops, don't worry about it.
