I have a 9 year old German shepherd. She used to live inside before the baby was born but due to her shedding we had to put her outside. She has a dog house but wont use it. She sleeps on the porch. Since being outside she has developed an odor. There has been no change in her dog food and no skin problem that can be seen. I have used antibacterial deoderant dog shampoos on her. I have also used a skunk odor remover just in case she was sprayed. I give her a bath more often and still she smells. Sometimes she smells moldy and other times the smell is hard to describe. Can you let me know what's wrong and how to take the smell away ??? Thank you from "cant take the stink"...
Besides the skin, common sites of medical conditions associated with unpleasant odors are ears, mouths, and anal sacs. The fact that you cannot identify a skin problem doesn't prove your dog doesn't suffer from one. Some diseases are difficult to discern through a coat of dense hair. I suggest you take your dog to her vet for an examination.
