Watch Victoria Stilwell (Animal Planet) or go to her website, and watch Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer,(NatGeo) and/or go to his site, www.cesarsway.com,. You should also get a professional in your area that can help you with the dog - check for referrals from you local shelters/humane societies. You said he's spoiled, so obviously it is you that has to be trained - and the trainer will tell you that; I'm not being fascitious. It takes time, patience, and repetitions but you can always obtain the results you seek. Go to the door in front of your dog, turn around and in a calm-assertive manner tell him "thank you" and point for him to go away and sit down. If he doesn't get it, take him to the spot and put his butt on the floor. Tell him to wait until you open the door and let your guest in - and then you can have him greet if you wish. Claim the space in front of the door. Don't confuse aggression with your lack of leadership and guidance allowing him to be the boss of the house. Ellen G. |
